By early February 2025, PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna and Ørsted had moved from pure development into physical works onshore for the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm. In their joint announcement of the final investment decision (FID), the partners stated that they had already started building the onshore connection infrastructure. This infrastructure, located around Osieki Lęborskie in Choczewo municipality, comprises the onshore transformer substation and underground high‑voltage export lines that will transfer electricity from the offshore export cables into the Polish Power System. The onshore works are being delivered under a contract with a GE Vernova–Polimex Mostostal consortium, which is responsible for constructing a 275/400 kV substation and associated onshore export lines. The statement marks the effective start of onshore construction activities for Baltica 2 ahead of large‑scale offshore installation.
