In 2025, Ørsted and PGE began offshore site‑preparation works for the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm, focusing on preparing the Baltic Sea seabed for future cable installation. Using Boskalis’s vessel BOKA Falcon equipped with the T‑Rex boulder‑removal plough, the contractors started clearing large rocks from the planned cable corridors. The T‑Rex unit pushes boulders aside, while the campaign will later switch to the Megalodon multifunction plough for trenching. These activities mark the start of a multi‑year programme to prepare routes for approximately 300 km of export cables and 170 km of inter‑array cables that will connect the 1.5 GW wind farm to its offshore substations and then to shore, improving installation safety and protecting cables from damage.
