In February 2021, PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna and Denmark’s Ørsted signed a joint venture agreement to co-develop, construct and operate the Baltica 2 and Baltica 3 offshore wind projects in the Baltic Sea. The agreement established a 50/50 partnership between Poland’s largest utility and the experienced offshore wind developer Ørsted, pooling their capabilities to deliver up to 2.5 GW of capacity, including the 1.5 GW Baltica 2 phase. This joint venture forms the ownership and development vehicle for Baltica 2, under which all subsequent permitting, contracting and construction activities are being carried out.
