On 11 May 2026, Ørsted and PGE announced the start of offshore foundation installation for the 1.5 GW Baltica 2 offshore wind farm in the Polish Baltic Sea. The developers reported that the first monopile foundations had been successfully installed at the site, located around 40 km off the Polish coast near Ustka. The installation campaign, executed by Van Oord, will involve placing 111 monopiles in total, 107 for Siemens Gamesa 14-222 wind turbines and four for the offshore substations, using the offshore installation vessel Aeolus and heavy-lift vessel Svanen. This marked the transition of Baltica 2 into full-scale offshore construction, underpinned by a 25‑year inflation‑protected Contract for Difference and a grid connection agreement with the Polish transmission system operator PSE.
