In 2024, PGE Baltica began geotechnical investigations for the onshore part of the 0.9 GW Baltica 1 offshore wind farm. The company reports that it "began investigating the subsoil" for onshore infrastructure and, in parallel, signed a contract for preliminary geotechnical studies of the seabed and geological studies for land–sea drilling, and selected a geotechnical and structural designer for subsoil exploration along the export cable route. These activities cover soil investigations on land and preparatory work for offshore and landfall geotechnical campaigns, providing data needed for the design of foundations, cable corridors, and associated civil works. The work advances Baltica 1 from high-level planning into detailed site characterisation ahead of future construction.
