On 24 July 2023, Elektrownia Wiatrowa Baltica‑1, the PGE Group special purpose vehicle developing the Baltica 1 offshore wind farm, submitted an application initiating the environmental impact assessment procedure for the project to obtain a Decyzja o środowiskowych uwarunkowaniach (environmental decision). This filing with the Regional Director for Environmental Protection in Gdańsk formally opened the administrative proceedings for the approximately 900 MW Baltica 1 project, located about 75 km north of the Polish Baltic Sea coast in the country’s Exclusive Economic Zone. The application is a prerequisite for securing the environmental permit needed before building permits and participation in Poland’s offshore CfD auctions.
