On 26 January 2023, Elektrownia Wiatrowa Baltica 1, a subsidiary of PGE Baltica from the PGE Group, was announced as the top‑ranked applicant in the competitive procedure for the location permit (PSZW) for offshore wind area 60.E.3 in the Polish Baltic Sea. The Ministry‑run points‑based process saw several other qualified bidders, including EDF Renewable Offshore Polska I, Cordeneos (owned by RWE), and POW – Polish Offshore Wind, but Elektrownia Wiatrowa Baltica 1 “scored the most points,” securing the right to the permit. The awarded area covers 143 km² and is expected to host up to 1,185 MW of capacity. PGE Group stated that the project on this area is tentatively referred to as Baltica 1+, and highlighted synergies with the adjacent 900 MW Baltica 1 project, including the potential for joint procurement and shared development activities. The permit award also positions Baltica 1+ to participate in Polish Contract for Difference (CfD) offshore wind auctions starting in 2025 under the second phase of market development.
