On 2 April 2026, the French government announced the launch of the combined AO9/AO10 offshore wind tender, a single procurement round of around 10 GW (about 5 GW fixed-bottom and 5 GW floating) that includes the Golfe du Lion Centre floating zone in the Mediterranean, where roughly 2 GW of capacity is planned for commissioning around 2035. The state initiated the process by sending the AO10 tender specifications to the energy regulator (CRE) and specifying that the round will cover multiple sites such as Fécamp Grand Large, Bretagne Nord Ouest, and Golfe du Lion Centre 1 and 2, with awards targeted between late 2026 and early 2027 and NZIA-aligned local content and supply-chain resilience criteria, thereby formally opening the competitive process for developers interested in the large-scale floating project in the Gulf of Lion.
