On 23 December 2016, the BSH issued the required Plangenehmigung under the Seeanlagenverordnung (SeeAnlV) for the revised EnBW Albatros offshore wind farm configuration in the German North Sea EEZ. The amendment modified the original 2011 SeeAnlV Genehmigung (which had authorised 79 turbines for Northern Energy OWP Albatros GmbH) to reflect the downsized 16-turbine layout EnBW selected after the BSH's November 2015 allocation of HVDC grid connection capacity to the BorWin beta / BorWin gamma converter platforms granted Albatros only 116.8 MW instead of the originally requested 316 MW. EnBW therefore opted to integrate Albatros as a 112 MW extension of the adjacent Hohe See project and built it with 16 × Siemens SWT-7.0-154 (7 MW) turbines on monopile foundations. A separate BSH order extending the construction deadline (Anordnung Albatros, 2 May 2017) was also required to permit Albatros's installation immediately after Hohe See; the wind farm entered commercial operation in January 2020.
